Q. |
What sets JM Video apart from most other videographers? |
|
A. |
Experience.
We have filmed hundreds of weddings of all religions and have built up a very
discerning clientele. We film at many well known venues such as Claridges, The
Dorchester, Grosvenor House and a large number at home in the country. On many
occasions, members of the Royal Family have been guests. |

Q. |
What approach do you take to the filming
of a wedding or party? |
|
A. |
One of the
secrets of our success is our ability to capture the spirit and feeling of an event;
unobtrusively recording even the smallest of details, without ever disturbing the
proceedings. We give you the opportunity to re-kindle the enchantment and delight of
those special moments and personal memories - whenever you wish.
A video film produced by JM Video will reflect your
style and tastes - a sophisticated result with the benefit of our stamp of creative
excellence blended with true professional expertise.
An acid test of the quality of the video is that a
relative who couldn't be there, actually feels as though they were! |
|
Q. |
Are you discreet? |
|
A. |
Most
definitely! The last thing our clients want is someone who gets in the way and
upsets everyone. We know the 'form' and operate accordingly. Most people say
they didn't know we were there and are surprised at how we were ever able to record the
event! |

 |
|
Q. |
Do you come suitably dressed? |
|
A. |
Yes. We
would normally wear morning coat for a wedding and black tie for a party. However,
if a lounge suit is more appropriate for a slightly less formal affair, then that's what
we would wear. |
|
Q. |
Do you cover the whole country? |
|
A. |
Yes.
Most of our clients, however, appear to come from the southern part of the UK. |
|
Q. |
Can you film with two cameras? |
|
A. |
Yes.
This is obviously more expensive but does realise certain distinct benefits which we would
be happy to discuss with you in detail. |
|
|
 |

|
|
Q. |
Do you encounter problems with vicars/religious officials? |
|
A. |
Rarely.
When they understand we are going to respect the religious nature of the occasion and be
very discreet, they are usually perfectly comfortable for us to film the ceremony. |
|
Q. |
How long is a typical video? |
|
A. |
It varies, but
typically a wedding video would last around two to two and a half hours. A party
would usually be around one and a half hours. The main things that affect the
duration of the video is the length of the ceremony and speeches. |
|
Q. |
What
should I be looking for in a demo tape? |
|
A. |
Be
very careful with so called demo tapes. Although they might appear
very 'glossy', they often show very selective images from various
weddings, sometimes in black & white and slo-mo, with carefully
selected accompanying music covering over any 'real' sound . These
selected shots and music can, very conveniently, mask weak camerawork
(focusing, exposure, scene continuity) and poor quality sound (no
radio microphones used - usually relying on the on-camera microphone
alone!).
Our prospective clients always see
full-length wedding sample tapes. That way they see exactly what
they'll be getting.

|
Q. |
Can photos be taken from the video? |
|
A. |
Most
definitely. Using digital equipment as we do, it is very easy to 'grab' images and
print them out as photos. It's worth pointing out, however, that they are not to the
standard of a 35mm camera but they do enable clients to have a hard copy of a special
moment or expression that the photographer missed - none of us can be in two places at
once! |

|
Q. |
Why
does the cost of wedding videos vary so much? |
|
A. |
Like
any service, you tend to get what you pay for. The cost of a video
generally reflects the experience of the cameraman and editor; the type
and range of equipment used; and the amount of time spent filming and
editing. We, for example, spend around four days' editing a typical
wedding video. Others might only spend a day. |
|
Q. |
What concerns do most clients have BEFORE the wedding or party? |
|
A. |
The main
concerns they seem to share are: will you be discreet - particularly in the church; will
you come appropriately dressed; will you get on with the photographer; will their guests
be upset by the presence of a video camera; is a video really necessary. |
|
Q. |
What sort of comments do you receive from brides and their
families AFTER the wedding or party? |
|
A. |
The main
comment centres on how discreet we were and how pleased they are with the video (see
Client Comments page). Most families say they didn't appreciate until after
the event just how much of the day they had missed. They typically say it
all went by in a blur and if it wasn't for the video, they would have forgotten so
much. Brides often say it is their most 'treasured possession'!
